In writing, the author finds her inspiration with her children. In their formative years, Christine wrote a collection of children’s books for them centered around the lessons they learned, and experiences they had. (ie: Luvy’s Light, Grandfather Grasshopper’s Special Gift, My Blanky, My Friend, How Wind Dancer Grew) Many of the illustrations in those stories, included renderings of her nieces and nephews, as well as her children, for the reason that, they all grew up together, spent a lot of time learning together, and having Grimm Adventures at the Porkies, as a family every year. The stories were about them. As a mother and an auntie, Christine was sympathetic and compassionate, and it was her mission to nurture love and bridges of understanding with her books. Hence, her storylines were the perfect platform to share.
After children’s books, Christine went on to write her mother & father’s memoirs (Diary of Love) (Korean War; Sergeant of the Guard). She also collaborated with her mother, Juanita Grimm, in developing spiritual cards (Sun Catchers; Color of the Sun Healing Cards). She wrote a book of poems (A Heart Still Beating) after recovering from cancer at nineteen years of age, and, collaborated with her daughter, Justine to do the cover art and add photos she took to the book. She created her own line of Tai Chi Cards (Dragon, Snake, Horse). She enjoys writing, creating, and is currently working on a number of other projects as well.
Juanita J. Grimm, Co-Author, Artist
(passed on to eternal life in 2022)
Juanita was a homemaker, and along with her husband, Richard, raised nine children. She was an avid camper; indulging annually in the rustic wilderness of the Porcupine Mountains National Park in Michigan for years with her family. She worked in food processing at a Healthcare Center after her last two children (twins) went to high school. She was a long-time supporter of the Catholic retreats at the Mother of Perpetual Help Redemption Center. She was an active member at St. Nicholas School and Parish where her children attended, and taught Sunday school there whenever called upon. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and participated in the prayer hours at church for many years. She was a yoga teacher for some forty plus years, teaching yoga classes at local churches, hospitals, schools, community centers, retreat centers, and privately, throughout the Milwaukee (Wisconsin) and surrounding Areas. Juanita was given the honored Sanskrit yogic name of “Vidya” which means “true knowledge” by Yogi Shantananda; one of her beloved yoga teachers. She also held many yoga & meditation retreat seminars in northern Wisconsin. She attended and participated in numerous yoga retreats at the Kripalu Yoga Center with her husband, Richard. She helped organize and support the Thursday Night Meditation Group gatherings, Living in the Heart Affinity Group meetings, and immersed herself in energy work with Tai Chi Classes at the Tai Chi Chuan Center of Milwaukee. She attended numerous Native American Ceremonies and often spoke of her Cherokee grandmother, Daisy, and how she learned about spirit energy from her as a child. She was a faithful supporter of Summerfield United Methodist Church participating in health & healing programs, as well as bible studies and community outreach activities. Juanita wrote spiritual writings throughout her life, and, to family and friends, was famous for her individual writings given out with an open heart and loving spirit. She wrote a book (self-published) called “The Diary of Love” which showcased all her writings throughout the years and gave the unique history of how the spirit spoke to her and how it was nurtured throughout her life by those closest to her. After her son, Richard, passed on in 2004 she started drawing mandalas and later she attached her unique spiritual writings to the pictures and made them into spiritual healing cards with the help of her daughter, Christine. Juanita called the cards “Sun Catchers” because they were meant to “catch the sun within”. In 2006, her daughter assembled the cards into a book, called “Sun Catchers; Color of the Sun Healing Cards – THE BOOK”. In 2012, along with her daughter, they reinvented the cards. Christine added a spin-side to the mandala drawings and her own special writing, making each card contain two different messages from spirit, and the revised cards (self-published) have been uplifting people with encouragement and hope ever since.
Juanita lived a life focused on family, and had a passion for following the love in any situation. She was a beacon of light to those who knew her and lights the way still, for those who mourn her passing. Love is Light / Light is Love.
